MOUNT HOREB, Wis. — The New Glarus Glarner Knights put together a 3-1 day Saturday at the Mount Horeb Viking Invite, opening with a three-set comeback over Madison East and closing the tournament with consecutive sweeps.
New Glarus defeated Madison East, Madison La Follette and Lake Mills, with its only loss coming against Jefferson. The nine-team field also included Barneveld, Lodi, Monona Grove and host Mount Horeb.
The Glarner Knights’ tournament totals showed contributions throughout the lineup. Senior Ellie Brenkman led New Glarus with 27 kills and five blocks, while senior Brynlee Schofield finished with 22 kills and a team-high eight aces. Senior Kate Parman added 19 kills, three aces and three blocks.
Senior Kalia Malaise turned in one of the Knights’ most complete performances of the day, recording 14 kills, three aces, 23 digs and 38 assists. Sophomore Nicole Burton added 41 assists, 13 digs and an ace.
