Highway 69 Work Begins This Week
Construction on Wisconsin Highway 69 from Monroe to Cow Path Lane south of New Glarus begins today, May 26, launching a $7.8 million resurfacing, bridge, culvert and roundabout project expected to affect local travel through late summer.
Construction is scheduled to begin today, May 26, on one of the most heavily traveled roads between New Glarus, Monticello and Monroe.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is moving ahead with a $7,781,725 project on Highway 69 from Bushnell Creek near Monroe to Cow Path Lane near New Glarus. The work will cover about 12.5 miles of highway and includes resurfacing, culvert replacements, guardrail work, new pavement markings, rumble strips, bridge work and intersection improvements.
Pylons and equipment have already been seen staged along Highway 69 near Monroe, signaling that work is ready to begin.
The contractor for the project is Rock Road Companies Inc., a Janesville-based road construction company with operations in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. The company also has an asphalt plant and quarry location in Monroe.
