Highway 78 Closure Adds Travel Headache for Area Drivers
A WisDOT project has closed WIS 78 to through traffic between Blanchardville and Daleyville, forcing drivers toward longer detours and creating new questions for area commuters.
BLANCHARDVILLE, Wis. — A Wisconsin Department of Transportation project has closed WIS 78 to through traffic between Blanchardville and Daleyville, creating new travel headaches for drivers headed toward Mount Horeb, Verona and the Madison area.
The closure is part of a larger WIS 78 project from Lien Court to County H. According to WisDOT, the road is closed to through traffic from March 2 through July 10, with lane closures under flagging operations expected from July 10 through Sept. 4.
WisDOT says the project is intended to address deteriorating asphalt pavement, including transverse cracking, rutting and alligator cracking. Work also includes sidewalk replacement, curb ramp updates and guardrail upgrades.
