Rainfall Totals: New Glarus Gets Much Needed Rain
After weeks of growing concern about dry soils and the potential for flash drought conditions, a widespread rain event delivered nearly 2 inches of precipitation to New Glarus and provided a timely boost to crops and gardens.
The storm this morning and today brought nearly 2 inches of rain to New Glarus, easing dry conditions after earlier concerns about rapid-onset drought in southern Wisconsin.
New Glarus received 1.94 of rain during the 24-hour period as of 3 p.m. Friday, June 5, as a much-needed storm front moved through southern Wisconsin.
The rain arrived after growing concern earlier in the week about a possible flash drought, with federal forecasters warning that heat, wind and limited rainfall could quickly dry out soils across southern Wisconsin.
