Rainbow Fleece Farm to Host Summer Wool Frolic Near New Glarus
Rainbow Fleece Farm will welcome fiber artists, shepherds and curious visitors June 19-21 for its annual Summer Wool Frolic, featuring fleece preparation demonstrations, spinning activities, yarns, wool products and farm-raised lamb.
A longtime New Glarus-area fiber tradition returns next weekend as Rainbow Fleece Farm hosts its annual Summer Wool Frolic from June 19-20 at the farm's location on Hustad Valley Road. The shop will still be open on Father’s Day, June 21st.
The two-day event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at W7181 Hustad Valley Road, offering visitors a chance to learn about sheep wool processing, fiber arts and wool products produced on the farm.
Owned and operated by Patty Reedy, Rainbow Fleece Farm has become a destination for fiber enthusiasts from across Wisconsin and northern Illinois. The Summer Wool Frolic serves as a hands-on introduction to the wool-making process while also acting as a prelude to the larger Tour de Fleece season celebrated by many spinning enthusiasts.
“People love coming to the farm, seeing the critters and learning wool crafts,” Reedy said. “Children love chasing the free-range chickens, seeing barn kittens and of course choosing that special fleece for their project.”
