Sugar River Blanks Waupun in Capitol Road Test
Sugar River opened Capitol Conference play in emphatic fashion Thursday, rolling past Waupun 6-0 behind a balanced attack, a clean sheet, and another strong early statement from the Belleville-New Glarus cooperative.
WAUPUN, Wis. — The Sugar River girls soccer cooperative opened Capitol Conference play in dominant fashion Thursday, blanking Waupun 6-0 on the road. The Raiders scored three times in each half and never allowed the hosts to build any real momentum.
It was the second match of the season for both teams and the first time the two programs had faced one another. It also marked Waupun’s first conference match as a new member of the Capitol, while Sugar River looked every bit like the veteran group it was expected to be entering the season.
