The Town of New Glarus Board appointed Matt Streiff as town chair Monday during a special meeting that also included action on asphalt work and pest-control service.
The motion to appoint Streiff was approved by the other board members present. Streiff abstained from the vote.
The board then considered asphalt work after reviewing two bids described during the meeting as being in the low-$60,000 range. A representative of an asphalt company attended and spoke to the board, and members voted to approve the recommended bid so the work could be scheduled.
Board members also discussed pest-control service for a town building. The proposal was described as a $50-per-month, month-to-month arrangement rather than a long-term contract, with additional discussion about bait boxes for mice. The board approved the service.
