Village Board Approves Code Update, Wastewater Report

The New Glarus Village Board approved a commercial zoning code update, accepted a strong wastewater treatment report and reviewed the village’s 2027 budget timeline during its regular meeting Wednesday, June 3.

The meeting also included an update on the new New Glarus Public Library, which is scheduled to celebrate its grand opening Thursday, June 4.

During public comment, Aaron Skogen, vice president of the Pecatonica Valley ATV Club of Monticello spoke in favor of allowing ATV and UTV access to the Village of New Glarus. It’s been one month since the Town of New Glarus approved a similar measure after great debate. The Village of New Glarus remains one of the last remaining places in Green County where ATVs and UTVs are not yet permitted on roadways.

The board then held a public hearing on Ordinance 26-04, which amends Chapter 305 of the village’s municipal code to adjust the minimum lot area required per dwelling unit in the C-1 Commercial District.
