A quiet stretch of early fall weather is giving way to a much more active pattern in New Glarus, with several opportunities for rain and thunderstorms beginning Monday and continuing through much of the week.
The National Weather Service expects showers and thunderstorms to become increasingly widespread Monday evening and overnight as a cold front approaches southern Wisconsin. The location of that front will become important later in the week, helping determine where additional rounds of storms develop Tuesday and Wednesday.
The most significant concern early in the week is heavy rainfall rather than widespread severe weather. Thunderstorms Monday night into Tuesday morning could produce torrential downpours, and localized flooding will be possible where storms repeatedly pass over the same areas. An isolated severe thunderstorm with gusty winds is also possible.
