The question of whether New Glarus should allow all-terrain vehicles and utility-terrain vehicles on village streets will move to the committee level Thursday, Aug. 13, when the Public Works/Public Safety Committee considers the issue at its 8:15 a.m. meeting at Village Hall.

The agenda lists “ATV/UTV Access in the Village of New Glarus” for consideration, discussion and a possible recommendation, giving the committee the opportunity to advise the full Village Board on whether the proposal should move forward.

The committee discussion follows a July 29 public listening session that drew residents, business owners and people from outside the village to speak both for and against opening village streets to ATVs and UTVs. The listening session itself did not include a proposed ordinance or route map and no formal action was taken.
