Green County Board to Weigh $48.5M Highway Facility

MONROE, Wis. — The Green County Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday, Oct. 13, with a possible decision on the county’s long-term Highway Department facility plan leading an agenda that also includes short-term rental rules, major highway equipment purchases and the first presentation of the proposed 2027 county budget.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the County Board Room at the Green County Historic Courthouse, 1016 16th Ave. in Monroe. The highway facility item is listed for presentation, discussion and possible action.

The board will enter the discussion with split committee recommendations. The Highway Committee and Property Committee have recommended Option 1, a full build-out of a new Highway Department campus at the Pleasant View site, while the Finance Committee recommended Option 2, which would omit two cold-storage buildings and retain part of the existing Monroe highway site for those storage needs.

The revised county presentation places the full build-out at a concept budget range of $43.9 million to $48.5 million. Option 2 ranges from $40 million to $44.2 million. County staff, the County Clerk and county administration recommend the full build-out.
