August Primary Election: What Voters Need to Know
Voters in New Glarus and nearby towns will head to the polls Aug. 11 for Wisconsin’s fall partisan primary. Here is what to know about the ballot, party-voting rules, registration deadlines, polling places and local sample ballots.
Voters across Wisconsin will go to the polls Tuesday, Aug. 11, for the 2026 fall partisan primary, which will determine which candidates advance to the Nov. 3 general election.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. are permitted to vote.
The ballot includes races for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, state treasurer, 2nd Congressional District representative, 17th State Senate District senator and 50th Assembly District representative. Green County voters will also see races for sheriff, coroner and clerk of circuit court. There are no referendum questions on the Green County primary ballot.
The Green County Clerk’s Office lists Monica Hack as the Democratic candidate for coroner, Amy Jo Walter as the Republican candidate for coroner and Melanie Leutenegger as the Democratic candidate for clerk of circuit court. Cody Kanable, an independent candidate for sheriff, and Jennifer Prien, an independent candidate for clerk of court, will not appear on the partisan primary ballot but may appear on the November ballot.
