Gif Hoesly & Larry Hauge of New Glarus Win World Euchre Championship
The New Glarus team became the first hometown players to win the World Euchre Championship, defeating a team from Trempealeau County in the best-of-three sudden death showdown.

New Glarus residents Gif Hoesly and Larry Hauge won the 2026 World Euchre Championship sponsored by Bicycle Cards on Sunday afternoon in downtown New Glarus, completing a historic run in front of a crowd of Euchre fans.
Hoesly and Hauge became the first team from New Glarus to win the championship in the history of the tournament. More than 600 Euchre players competed this weekend for the chance to be crowned world champion.
