High winds and heavy rain moved through New Glarus Wednesday afternoon, prompting a response to a reported power line fire, blown transformer and multiple reports of downed trees and power lines across the area.

UPDATE: (4:17 p.m.): Crews later confirmed the Tucker Road call involved a large branch on wires with the line arcing, and Alliant Energy was requested to respond. Scanner traffic also noted a downed sign in New Glarus and minor rural road washouts, though crews indicated those washouts were not an immediate problem overnight.
