Sheriff’s Tactical Team Executes New Glarus Search Warrant

The Green County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team executed a residential search warrant Thursday morning in New Glarus as part of an investigation involving child sexual abuse material.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the warrant was executed at approximately 7:45 a.m. Oct. 8 in the 600 block of 5th Avenue.

The investigation was led by detectives after the Sheriff’s Office received cyber-tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Investigators said the tips identified media depicting child sexual abuse material, or CSAM.

Just one day before Thursday’s search, Green County Sheriff Cody Kanable told New Glarus 360 that child sexual abuse material cases have become a persistent and complex part of the work handled by the Sheriff’s Office detective division.

“The amount of child sexual abuse material, or what was formerly known as child pornography, those cases just do not seem to go away,” Kanable said. “They’re very complex. There are victims involved, and that’s something that we have really taken an assertive stance on — that we are going to pursue to whatever length we can to bring that person into court to hold them accountable for their actions.”
