LODI, Wis. — The Monroe-New Glarus CheeseKnights continued to pile up strong performances Saturday, Sept. 12, placing third at the ninth annual Lodi Co-Op Invitational.
Monroe-New Glarus finished with 306 points, trailing host Lodi Co-Op, which won with 584, and runner-up Mount Horeb with 380. The CheeseKnights finished 22 points ahead of fourth-place Platteville-Lancaster.
The result came as members of the team acknowledged they are beginning to feel the accumulated fatigue of the season. Even so, the CheeseKnights continued to improve times and produce some of their best swims of the year.
Lauren Zentner led the way with victories in both sprint freestyle events. She won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.77 seconds and followed with a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 1:00.78, lowering her season-best time in the event.
