Dan Gartzke Completes State Bar Presidency
After serving as president of the State Bar of Wisconsin, New Glarus attorney and Town of New Glarus Board member Dan Gartzke will remain involved in the organization’s leadership as past president through July 2027, with committee work ahead.
New Glarus attorney Dan Gartzke completed his one-year term as president of the State Bar of Wisconsin on June 30, concluding a leadership role that placed him at the head of an organization representing more than 25,000 Wisconsin attorneys.
Gartzke formally passed the gavel to incoming President Stephen Sawyer of Stevens Point during the State Bar’s Annual Meeting and Conference in La Crosse in June. Gartzke was elected in 2024 and served as president from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.
Gartzke, who has lived in the New Glarus community since 1988, is a family law attorney with BoardmanClark, a Wisconsin law firm with about 75 attorneys. He works from the firm’s Madison and Belleville offices and also serves on the Town of New Glarus Board.
Gartzke has practiced law since 1986. Earlier in his career, he was a partner in a Monroe-based law firm and helped operate its New Glarus office with his wife, attorney Tracey Schwalbe.
