Discover Wisconsin Begins Filming in New Glarus

A partnership between New Glarus and Discover Wisconsin is officially underway, with a film crew beginning production on four planned features highlighting the village, its businesses, festivals and Swiss heritage.

According to Annie O'Connor, executive director for the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce in its monthly newsletter to members, the crew completed its first round of filming during the New Glarus Beer, Bacon & Cheese festival June 13, capturing scenes from the downtown event and the food, beverages, entertainment and visitors it brought to the community.

Additional filming is planned in downtown New Glarus and during Volksfest, which will be held Aug. 2. The completed features are expected to air during spring and fall 2027.

The project will give New Glarus an opportunity to reach potential visitors across Wisconsin while showcasing more than any single festival or attraction. The planned footage is expected to highlight the village’s downtown, locally owned businesses, community events and continuing connection to Swiss culture.
