DNR Releases 2026-27 Hunting Rules and Forecasts

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has released its fall 2026-spring 2027 hunting regulations along with forecasts outlining what hunters and trappers may encounter during the upcoming seasons.

The two resources cover season dates, licensing and registration requirements, public land opportunities and regulations for many of Wisconsin’s most popular game species. The forecasts address deer, migratory birds, upland game birds, bears and furbearing animals.

For the first time, the DNR has published a searchable online version of the complete hunting regulations. Hunters can use drop-down menus to select a section and subsection rather than scrolling through the entire regulation booklet. The online and printed versions contain the same information.

Printed regulation booklets are expected to become available at DNR service centers in the coming weeks.
