Albion Swords is seeking financial assistance from the Village of New Glarus for repairs to the exterior of its building at 421 Second St.

The company has applied for $6,000 through the village’s Façade Improvement Grant Program toward a project estimated at $14,625. The remaining $8,625 would come from private funds, according to the application.

The proposed work is primarily focused on repairing and replacing deteriorated portions of the existing façade rather than significantly redesigning the building. Plans call for work on the front railings and decorative scalloped material, along with repairs to the front stoop, approach and exterior stairs. New and repaired materials would be painted or stained to match the existing façade.

In its application, Albion Swords said the work “will improve the whole look of our building” and allow it to “more service the community.”

The application lists Blackhawk Custom Homes of Madison as the contractor and proposes a construction window from Oct. 1 through Dec. 1, 2026.
