Downtown Streetscape Work to Begin June 22 in New Glarus
Construction on portions of First Street and Fifth Avenue will begin June 22 as crews install safety improvements tied to downtown festival infrastructure. Parking will be temporarily affected, though sidewalks will remain open.
Work on a downtown streetscape improvement project is scheduled to begin Monday, June 22, with construction crews focusing on portions of First Street and Fifth Avenue in downtown New Glarus.
According to village officials, Concrete Creations will begin work on the west side of First Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues and continue to the south side of Fifth Avenue between First and Second streets.
The project is part of a $200,000 capital improvement initiative approved by the Village of New Glarus and is designed to improve safety in areas frequently used during community festivals and events. The work includes lifting existing brick pavers and installing permanent tent anchor points to eliminate protruding hardware that can create tripping hazards for pedestrians.
