MADISON, Wis. — One early goal was all that separated Sugar River and Edgewood on Saturday morning, as the Raiders came up just short in a 1-0 loss in Madison.
Edgewood struck 4 minutes, 30 seconds into the opening period, putting Sugar River in an immediate hole. But the Raiders did not allow another goal the rest of the way, keeping themselves within one score throughout the match.
Goalkeeper Taydon DeRouin helped make sure it stayed that way. DeRouin finished with 10 saves while allowing only the early Edgewood goal.
Sugar River was unable to find the equalizer at the other end. The Raiders finished with six shots on goal, while Edgewood was credited with 17.
