Town Board to Fill Seat, Weigh 3.47% Fire District Budget Hike

The Town of New Glarus Board is expected to appoint a new supervisor Wednesday, Oct. 14, during a meeting that also includes a proposed 34.65% 3.47% increase in the New Glarus Fire District budget, EMS-related resolutions and several decisions involving town facilities.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the New Glarus Town Garage, N8799 Hayes Lane. Four residents — Jane Elmer, Alex Esser, Rob Ready and Judith Blank — submitted letters of interest for the open 2nd supervisor position.

According to the agenda, each applicant may present qualifications and explain their interest in serving. The board is scheduled to take possible action, recess and then administer the oath of office to a new town supervisor before reconvening.

The vacancy followed leadership changes on the Town Board in September. The Oct. 14 appointment would restore the board to a full complement as it moves into budget season and several end-of-year policy decisions.
