Highway 69 Closure Set for July 13 as Roundabout Work Continues
Highway 69 will close to through traffic beginning July 13 as crews prepare for major culvert replacements, while roundabout grading continues this week at County C and Urban Road near Monticello with speed restrictions and the County C closure remaining in effect.
Construction on Wisconsin Highway 69 between Monroe and New Glarus will enter a major new phase in just two weeks, with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation confirming that the highway will close to through traffic beginning Monday, July 13.
The closure marks the most significant traffic impact of the $7.8 million reconstruction project, which has been underway since late May. Once Highway 69 closes, through traffic will be detoured using Wisconsin highways 11, 81, 78 and 39 while crews complete culvert replacements and other major improvements that cannot be performed with traffic on the roadway.
For now, most work remains concentrated near the County C and Urban Road intersection north of Monticello, where crews will continue grading the future single-lane roundabout throughout the week of June 29.
