Highway Facility, Election Issues Lead County Board Meeting
Green County supervisors heard the first of three presentations on the Highway Department’s future, approved a $1.2 million Pleasant View staffing contract and heard the county clerk outline plans to avoid another election-night reporting delay.
MONROE, Wis. — The Green County Board of Supervisors got its first detailed look Thursday night at the operations behind a potential new Highway Department facility while also approving several personnel, property and staffing measures.
The Highway Department presentation was the first of three planned discussions intended to lead supervisors toward consideration of the department’s future facility needs. Thursday’s presentation focused on current operations and equipment, with later presentations expected to address the condition of existing facilities and, eventually, proposed plans, options and costs.
Highway Commissioner Chris Narveson, Facilities Director Dick Marti and Barry Einbeck, a department employee with more than 30 years of service, told supervisors the department is operating on a much smaller footprint even as its workload has increased. The Monroe site has declined from about 18 acres 20 years ago to 5.5 acres today.
