Kanable Unopposed for Green County Sheriff After Filing Deadline
Appointed to the office in 2024 following the retirement of Sheriff Jeffrey Skatrud, Cody Kanable will be the only candidate listed on the ballot this fall after no challenger filed nomination papers before the June 1 deadline.
Green County Sheriff Cody Kanable will be the only candidate whose name appears on the ballot for sheriff this fall after the deadline for filing nomination papers passed earlier this month.
According to the Green County Clerk's Office, no other candidates submitted the required paperwork by the 5 p.m. June 1 filing deadline to seek election to the office.
Kanable was appointed sheriff in June 2024 by Gov. Tony Evers following the retirement of longtime Green County Sheriff Jeffrey Skatrud. He officially assumed office June 30, 2024, and has served as sheriff since that time.
