Kelsey Jenson did not arrive in the New Glarus village administrator’s office as a newcomer.

By the time she was named village administrator, Jenson had already served the village in other key roles, including clerk and treasurer. That background, she said, gave her a working knowledge of the community, village staff, residents, business owners, finances, operations and the many moving parts of local government.

“Being familiar with New Glarus — with the residents, business owners, and the community certainly helped me in the transition from Clerk-Treasurer to Administrator,” Jenson said.

It also meant she could begin the job without spending months learning how the village worked.

“I also had intimate knowledge of how the Village works; the day-to-day operations, how the departments interact, the financial management,” she said. “It all was extremely helpful, and I was able to jump right in rather than needing to spend the first months of the new position familiarizing myself with the community.”
