Mail-In Absentee Voting Underway for November Election

Mail-in absentee voting is already underway for Wisconsin’s Nov. 3 general election, with municipal clerks now sending ballots to voters who have active requests on file.

The next major step comes Tuesday, Oct. 20, when in-person absentee voting may begin. Hours and locations vary by municipality, meaning voters in the Village of New Glarus and surrounding towns should check their local schedules before heading to the clerk’s office.

Any qualified Wisconsin voter may request an absentee ballot without providing a reason. Voters must be registered before receiving a ballot, and most voters requesting an absentee ballot must provide acceptable photo identification.

For most voters, the deadline for a municipal clerk to receive a request for an absentee ballot by mail is 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. Completed absentee ballots must be received by the municipal clerk in time to be delivered to the polling place by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
