New Brewery Permit Marks More Hilltop Progress

Another piece of the New Glarus Brewing Co. Hilltop expansion is moving forward, with a recently issued building permit covering a new restroom and storage structure near the brewery parking lot.

The building will replace a deteriorating storage shed that was demolished, as well as portable toilets previously located in the same area. Village of New Glarus building inspector Scott Jelle and Katherine May, the brewery’s architect and project manager, said the structure was already included in the overall expansion plans. It was approved through the Village of New Glarus site-plan process and state review.

The building itself was not fully designed when the larger project was originally permitted. With those plans now completed, the brewery obtained the additional building permit and paid the associated permit costs.

Although relatively small compared with the work underway around it, the new structure represents another piece of the extensive redevelopment of the Hilltop property.
