New Glarus ATV Debate Begins Wednesday: What to Know
Wednesday’s listening session will not include a vote, but it will give residents, business owners and taxpayers their first formal opportunity to shape whether ATV and UTV routes should be created inside the Village of New Glarus.
The debate over allowing all-terrain vehicles and utility-terrain vehicles on streets inside the Village of New Glarus formally begins Wednesday when the Village Board holds a public listening session at Village Hall.
The special meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at Village Hall, 319 Second St. Although the discussion could determine whether the issue moves forward, the board is not scheduled to vote on an ordinance or approve any routes Wednesday.
Instead, the meeting is intended to gather opinions from residents, business owners, taxpayers and others before village officials decide what, if anything, should happen next. The agenda gives village residents, business owners and taxpayers the first opportunity to speak, and comments will be limited to three minutes.
The meeting was scheduled after Aaron Skogen, vice president of the Pecatonica Valley ATV Club of Monticello, approached the village several weeks ago and asked officials to consider allowing ATV and UTV access.
