New Glarus Fire Department Logs 57 Calls in Second Quarter
Emergency medical incidents accounted for more than a third of the New Glarus Fire Department’s 57 calls from April through June, while firefighters also responded to crashes, structure fires, alarms, gas leaks and mutual-aid requests.
The New Glarus Fire Department responded to 57 calls during the second quarter of 2026, averaging 8.7 firefighters per call as members handled emergencies ranging from cardiac arrests and vehicle crashes to structure fires and gas leaks.
Emergency medical service calls represented the department’s largest single category during April, May and June. The department recorded 21 EMS calls, including three cardiac arrests, along with medical emergencies, trauma calls and a lift assist. Altogether, EMS incidents accounted for nearly 37% of the department’s calls during the quarter.
Firefighters were also dispatched to seven motor vehicle crashes during the three-month period. One of those crashes involved a fatality, according to the department’s quarterly report.
