VERONA, Wis. — New Glarus/Monticello posted a pair of top-five Division 3 team finishes Saturday at the 50th annual Verona Invitational, with the girls placing fourth and the boys fifth. The meet brought together schools from all three divisions, with separate Division 3 results providing a more direct comparison among similarly sized programs.
The meet was held on the Randy Marks Cross Country Course in Verona. Organizers describe the course as designed to mirror the difficulty of the WIAA state meet course, combining open flats, wooded stretches and hills.
Mitchell led the New Glarus/Monticello girls, finishing fourth among Division 3 runners in 21 minutes, 15.7 seconds. Maynard was close behind in seventh at 21:40.5, giving New Glarus/Monticello two runners among the first seven finishers.
