Apparently, New Glarus knows a thing or two about throwing an Oktoberfest.
The New Glarus Oktoberfest has been ranked No. 9 among the best Oktoberfest celebrations in the country in USA TODAY’s 2026 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, putting the village’s four-day celebration alongside some of the nation’s most prominent Oktoberfest destinations.
The recognition comes through USA TODAY’s 10Best program, which uses nominations selected by editors and experts before turning the final rankings over to readers. New Glarus finished ninth in the nationwide voting.
The honor arrives at an especially convenient time. New Glarus Oktoberfest returns to downtown New Glarus Sept. 24-27, bringing four days of live music, food, beer and activities to the festival tent and surrounding downtown.
