New Glarus Picks Up More Rain as Warmer Weekend Ahead
New Glarus received just over a half inch of rain in the latest round of showers, while Monroe topped the area with more than 2 inches as warmer, more humid weather returns this weekend.
New Glarus picked up another 0.56 inches of rainfall over the past two days, bringing the community's month-to-date total to 7.71 inches as of late Wednesday night, according to Precip.com data.
Rainfall varied widely across southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. While many communities recorded between one-half and three-quarters of an inch, heavier downpours developed in a few locations. Monroe led the region with 2.27 inches over the past two days, while Janesville received 1.82 inches and Mount Horeb measured 1.87 inches. Darlington also topped an inch with 1.18 inches.
The latest rainfall adds to what has already been a wetter-than-average June for much of the area. Several communities have now received well over 7 inches of precipitation this month, with Darlington approaching the 10-inch mark at 9.85 inches.
