New Glarus picked up 0.22 inch of rain during the latest official morning observation period, leaving the village on the lighter side of rainfall totals reported across parts of southern Wisconsin.
The official New Glarus cooperative observer gauge recorded the 0.22 inch during the approximately 24-hour period ending at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15. The observer reported overnight showers and thunderstorms, with light rain still falling at observation time.
The reading represents rain that fell from roughly 7 a.m. Monday through 7 a.m. Tuesday. National Weather Service cooperative observers generally take readings once each morning, meaning the totals do not represent rainfall since midnight.
New Glarus received another 0.03 inch during the preceding observation period ending Monday morning. Combined, the two non-overlapping daily readings produced approximately 0.25 inch of rain over about 48 hours.
Rainfall was considerably heavier in some nearby locations.
