New Glarus School Board to Review Student Supports, Drug Policy

The New Glarus School Board will meet Monday, Sept. 28, for a regular meeting that includes a tour of Phase 2 of the Glarner Community Complex, a review of student intervention data and possible action on an updated student drug and alcohol policy. The meeting begins at 7:15 p.m. in the high school library/media center, Room 183.

The board is scheduled to begin with a tour of Phase 2 of the Glarner Community Complex, where work is underway on the concession and restroom building, public plaza and Swiss-inspired pavilion intended to expand the site beyond athletics and create a gathering space for school and community events.

One discussion item is the district’s 2025-26 targeted intervention report. It shows 6.5% of students received intensive reading support, 4% received intensive math support, 6.4% received help with social, emotional, behavioral or attendance needs, and 3.5% received school-based mental health services.

The report also says 12.9% of district enrollment received special education interventions. At the high school level, 1.3% used credit recovery and another 1.3% participated in an alternative high school completion program.
