New Meadery and Prairie Haus Expansion Headline Plan Commission Agenda
A former New Glarus Brewing Co. employee is seeking approval for a downtown meadery at the former Cow & Quince location, while updated plans for a 50-unit Prairie Haus senior housing expansion return with new site and infrastructure details.
New Glarus residents will get their first public look at a proposed downtown meadery and updated plans for a major senior housing expansion when the Village of New Glarus Plan Commission meets Tuesday evening. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Village Hall and includes public hearings and possible action on both projects.
The agenda includes a conditional use permit request for a "Micro Beverage Production Facility" at 407 Second St. and site plan approval consideration for the Prairie Haus Senior Phase II development proposed on Elmer Road.
The meadery proposal would bring a new craft beverage producer to downtown New Glarus at the current location of Sarah Drew State Farm Insurance and the former home of Cow & Quince Restaurant. Applicant Stephen Itzenhuiser, owner of Kindred Spirits Inn LLC and a former employee of New Glarus Brewing Co., is seeking approval to establish mead production and retail sales within the mixed-use building.
