An Oxford man has been charged in Green County Circuit Court after authorities said they developed probable cause in a child sexual assault investigation involving allegations from years earlier.

Ricky Paul Peil, 61, of rural Oxford, was charged Tuesday, July 7, with one count of repeated sexual assault of the same child, involving at least three violations of first-degree sexual assault, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office. The charge was filed in Green County Circuit Court case 2026CF101.

The sheriff’s office said it received information in May regarding incidents of repeated child sexual assaults reported to have taken place years earlier in rural Green County, including in the town of Brooklyn.

Because of the nature of the alleged crimes, the Green County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division was assigned to investigate. As the investigation continued, Green County law enforcement developed probable cause to support Peil’s arrest, according to the sheriff’s office.
