School Board to Consider Mental Health Initiative, Review Middle School Progress
New Glarus school board members will hear a middle school performance update Monday and consider a new student mental health program aimed at preventing crises before they occur.
The New Glarus School Board will meet Monday evening with student mental health, academic performance and future curriculum initiatives among the key topics on the agenda.
Board members are scheduled to receive a comprehensive update from New Glarus Middle School staff, including recent academic performance data, school improvement efforts and plans for the coming school year.
One of the most significant items before the board is consideration of a new high school initiative known as Sources of Strength, a nationally recognized suicide prevention and mental health program. According to materials included in the agenda packet, the program is designed to build a culture of wellness and resilience by training students and staff to support one another before problems reach a crisis point.
