T-Mobile Outage Disrupts Service in New Glarus

Some T-Mobile customers in New Glarus and across southern Wisconsin reported losing cellular service late Monday afternoon as a widespread national outage disrupted calls, texts and mobile data.

Phones affected by the outage frequently displayed “SOS” or “no service,” leaving users unable to connect to T-Mobile’s network. Reports also appeared in the Madison area, including on Downdetector’s regional outage page and social media.

The outage began around 3 p.m. Central time Monday, July 27, and quickly generated more than 62,000 reports nationwide at its peak, according to Downdetector. The crowdsourced total does not represent a confirmed number of affected customers and the actual scope may have been larger.

T-Mobile acknowledged it was investigating “technical challenges” affecting some customers but did not immediately provide a cause. Reports declined considerably by early evening as service returned for many users.
