Town of New Glarus Approves New Bids for Asphalt Work
After canceling a special meeting one day earlier, the Town of New Glarus Board met for about five minutes Sept. 2 and approved moving ahead with solicitation of new bids for asphalt work at the town’s new maintenance facility project.
The Town of New Glarus Board approved soliciting new bids for asphalt work at its new maintenance facility Wednesday, moving the paving project back toward a competitive bidding process after previously approving the work as a change order.
The board’s Sept. 2 agenda called for rescinding the Payne & Dolan asphalt change order approved Aug. 12, followed by discussion and possible action on soliciting bids for the asphalt work.
The asphalt work had originally been handled as a change order because paving was anticipated as part of the maintenance facility project, but the final amount of asphalt needed could not be determined until construction was substantially complete and the site plan was refined.
The board had scheduled a special meeting for Sept. 1 to reconsider the Payne & Dolan change order, but that meeting was canceled the same day. A replacement special meeting was then scheduled for Wednesday.
