Village Hall Remodel Plans Starting to Take Shape

A design update shows how New Glarus Village Hall could be reworked after the library’s move, with a larger boardroom, more secure offices, added storage, improved public counters and construction planned for 2027 in the current proposal.

Village Hall Remodel Plans Starting to Take Shape

Plans for a remodeled New Glarus Village Hall are beginning to take shape, with a new design update showing how the building could be reworked following the move of the New Glarus Public Library to its new facility.

The Village Board is scheduled to review a Village Hall renovation design update at tonight’s meeting. According to village documents, the engineering company, Strand Associates of Madison, has reached the 50% design stage for the project, meaning the drawings are advanced enough to show the proposed direction but are not yet final construction documents.

No formal action is expected at this stage.

The emerging plan appears to make one of its biggest changes in the former library space. The library’s former 1,508-square-foot footprint would largely become a new, larger Village Board room, with a portion of that area also used for new office space.
